ABOUT ME

My name is Chrissy, I'm 25 and I'm from Oxford. Over the last few years I've lived in Brighton, UK; Valencia and Madrid, Spain and Guadalajara, Mexico and had some amazing opportunities to travel all over Mexico, Spain and to see some of South-East Asia.

My boyfriend, Miguel Angel, is 30 and he's a photographer from Guadalajara. From October to January we're planning on travelling across Europe, as cheaply and as diversely as possible!

We love art, museums, mountains, any extreme sport (well, actually, that's more him but I'll give anything a go!), drinking beer, learning languages, jazz music, any live music actually, cooking good food and meeting wonderful people from all over the world.

PHILOSOPHY

Just live and let live really. And to travel as much as humanly possible!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted travellers in Brighton and in Guadalajara, Mexico for the last four years or so, and always had a great time doing it! Sometimes I've shown people around the city and gone on adventures, but quite often if I've been working or studying I've had CSers whom I've just hung out with in the evenings and more or less left to their own devices, for those with a fuller travelling itinerary.

I also go along to lots of the CS events in Brighton - most of which take place in one of the many fabulous pubs Brighton has to offer - and always enjoy chatting to someone from somewhere new and offering my sporadic and potentially inaccurately gleaned knowledge of Brighton to travellers or newcomers, as well as learning about them.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosting experiences as described above..

We're relative newcomers to couchsurfing ourselves; I've stayed with a few people in a couple of different cities in Mexico, namely Cabo San Lucas in the North and San Cristóbal de las Casas in the South.

However, with so much to see in South America and such limited budgets, we're hoping to get more involved in the CS scene, meet some lovely CSers and hopefully return the favour if/when any new acquaintances fancy a visit to the UK!

Interests

Miguel Angel loves rock-climbing, photography, scuba diving, motocross, drawing and generally being excellent at exploring.

I love learning/teaching languages (I'm a linguist and an EFL teacher by trade), visiting museums, hiking, swimming and reading prolifically.

Jazz, swing, Northern Soul/Motown, the Beatles (of course), ska, reggae, Bjork, Jamiroquai, Cat Empire, the Jam, Kate Bush, Caravan Palace.. pretty varied really!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Followed a giant turtle through the ocean off the east coast of Malayasia! I've also made some really good pancakes in my time.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach English or beginner to intermediate Spanish (although I'm fluent, I wouldn't be that confident helping out graduate level students purely because I'm not a native speaker).

Miguel Angel can teach all kinds of photography, and is also a PADI certified Rescue Diver, as well as knowing a bit about sailing and a lot about motorbikes and rock climbing/bouldering.
