I'm an arts educator - and both really excite me. I love the visual arts, and get so much out of looking at and making work (though I do little of the later these days). I really enjoy being an educator, because it's a fantastic connection with people - and does what I believe the arts should do - help people find out about themselves, and those around them.

Tramping - being from NZ, there are amazing bush tracks (and no killer things to eat you either which is a bonus). There is nothing like staring over the mouth of the Manukau Harbour - one direction ocean, the other, undulating ancient forest. Kinda cool :)

I was part of a community singing group for a while, and would love to go back to it. It was pretty casual... just turn up if you wish. I loved that there were so many different kinds of people, from all walks of life. An opportunity to meet people you might never normally have spoken to. A license to chat!

I'm an educator... so watching someone have a complete 'moment' - those kinds of transformative moments where something really changes for them - I have a few of those memories, and they are amazing!

Seeing my first 'famous' painting. Coming from little old NZ, you don't have a lot of opportunities to see famous Western artworks. I remember at 19 standing in the Haywood Gallery in London and seeing my first Cezanne. I cried (embarrassing!), and stood there for 20 mins staring at it (it was in the entrance to the exhibition!). Took 3.5 hours for me to get through the whole show! Needless to say, I was a mess by the end of it!!!

Going with my grandma to Scotland where she's from in 2009, and seeing her meet her cousin, who she hadn't seen for years, probably for the last time. Life is short and ends. Those moments between are pretty special.
