Hi! My name is Christian and I am from Seville, Spain, although I am originally from the U.S.. I am currently working as a part-time teacher here in Seville, teaching support classes to students in the University of Seville's economics program, and also work as a researcher while I prepare my Ph.D. proposal. Needless to say, I love what I do and hope to make a career of it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In the past I've spent a night or two at the home of a friend's friend, and the experience was generally good. However, the number of destinations I was limited to was quite low. I only just found out couchsurfing existed a few days ago, and am pretty excited about how organized and thought out everything appears to be.

I really enjoy travelling and I've always wanted to avoid the standard, touristy version of the cities I go to. I can't really think of a better way to get to know a city than by asking a local.

Interests

I have a variety of hobbies, but my biggest one is probably music: I love everything about it, from digging through old records to find old classics. to going to new venues to try out new genre and groups. I mainly listen to electronic music - drum and bass, breakbeat, dub and hardtek, but I am also a huge fan of Jazz, Ska and classic rock (Frank Zappa!)

Another one of my favorite passtimes is rock climbing. I started a few years ago and have been addicted ever since. In general. I like everything that takes place in the outdoors, but climbing is especially fun.

As far as my other interests, I enjoy talking about philosophy, politics and. of course, economics.

Music: Drum and bass (Current Value, Raiden, Evol Intent, Black Sun Empire, Cooh, etc.), Crossbreed, Breakbeat (Krafty Kuts, Freefall Collective, Plump Djs, etc.), Dub, Hip Hop, Ska, Punk, etc. I like a lot of music.

My favorite books are Thomas Paine's Common Sense, Huxley's Brave New World, Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises, Thompson's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Descarte's Discourse on the Method. I'm probably forgetting a few.

My favorite movies are Pi: Faith in Chaos, Trainspotting, Tape, Taxi Driver, Easy Rider, The Shining, Apocalypse Now and the Departed.
