About Me

Hello everyone,
my name is Christian. I'm 25 years old and just finished my master's degree in physics. So, this is a good point in life to take the change (when you don't have obligations yet) to travel and explore. I've done a lot of theoretical stuff (even though I'm an experimental physicist) over the last few years. From this background, it's time to see something, to have various experiences (good ones and, of course, also bad ones, because obviously life is not a pony farm) and to get in touch with many different people. That's why I decided to go on a work and travel trip to Australia from June to November this year. I've had one couchsurfing experience so far, and it was such a great adventure that I'm hoping to gather some more. So, you're reading it. Unfortunately, I won't be able to host anyone next time or show the city where I live (Wuerzburg in Bavaria). But I'm sure there will be a time when this will also be possible. And maybe I'll find some connections or friends with whom a mutual visit is possible sometime later.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In my opinion, couchsurfing is a wonderful opportunity to get in touch with people in another way than everyday life can bring. There are so many open-hearted and friendly people out there. You can experience cultural aspects from completely different sides, but always from a personal and non-touristic point of view.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
main categories Rock 'n' Roll (Stones, AC DC, Led Zeppelin) and Classics (Beethoven, Brahms, Dvořák), but also Punk Rock, Blues, (Indie) Pop, Folks, Country

Movies:
Sci-Fi, Action, Drama (but movies are not not my specialty, I'm a bit more familiar with books); to name a few: Star Trek, Lost in Translation, The Godfather, Flight, Die Hard, Inception, Good morning, Vietnam, Awakenings, The Bucket List

Books:
Really diverse. Non-fiction as well as novel. Unfortunately, in recent time way too many physics papers and too few books. To name a few authors: Bill Bryson, Miguel Torga, John Irving, Markus Heitz, Heinrich Heine, Hermann Hesse, Ernest Hemingway, Richard Feynman, Jack London.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

You can't find it on my profile, but one of my best experiences was couchsurfing indeed. A former friend of mine and I visited Åland and met Finn there. He is such a friendly, open and communicative person and organized our one-night stay so nicely (you can't imagine). I would also say: for all others out there, I just can recommend to visit Finland. Sauna, Sibelius, Sisu!!! What are main aspects for two weeks can be main aspects for life.

Teach, Learn, Share

Whew, what should I write in here.
I woudn't say I could teach anything specific. I mean I studied physics, but how much can you master from this: nearly nothing in my opinion. But if you're interested, feel free to begin with such a topic. Of course, it's a pleasure to tell you something about my previous travel destinations.
Learning is the complete other side. I love to listen and are interested in many fields. So, I like to learn whatever you can teach me.
And regarding sharing: I can't give an answer, because it depends on the constellation. At first, we share life time together. And that's already a main aspect. Apartment sharing is also for many people not an easy thing. And what I mean with "it depends" is: it can be sharing of some good words, it can be sharing of a bottle of beer or wine, it can be sharing of a wonderful time. You never know before.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would describe myself as a friendly and open-minded person with a huge interest in natural sciences, but a bit introverted (so I have to work on that in the coming time). After a bit time to get to know each other, it would be wonderful to get away from small talk topics and have good and interesting conversations. Especially, if you'd like to talk about something specific, I'll love to listen. It would be a great pleasure to cook something (together or I'm sure to find something which I can cook for you).
