I am a Senior studying philosophy and Russian studies at Utah Valley University. I was born and raised in the States, but plan to travel the world. So far, I have traveled to most of the States in the US, as well as Mexico and Russia. I get along with almost anyone and love to meet new people. When I am not doing schoolwork, I am usually reading or hanging out with my friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel and would like to find good people to host me. Staying with people is better than staying at a hotel not only because it is cheaper, but because it facilitates human interaction. I would be interested in hosting as well--it would be fun to show someone around my home town!
I actually had an experience where a Couchsurfing host and their guest came to stay with my family and I for Christmas. It was a good experience.

Interests

I am interested in music, philosophy, politics, art, language, and culture. I play guitar poorly and love to play music with people. I really like working on my Russian, and plan to learn other languages in the future, notably French, German, and Arabic. I love to talk with people who have similar interests, but I am very social and can always find something to talk about.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music- I like rock, blues, punk, alternative, grunge, industrial, experimental electronic, folk, classical. It really depends on my mood. My favorite artists are Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, the Rolling Stones, Nine Inch Nails, and Radiohead.
Movies- I like virtually anything by the Coen brothers, and all of Tarantino's films. Some favorites: The Matrix, The Big Lebowski, The Fountain,
Books- I must admit, I don't read a whole lot of novels, but I tend to like science fiction and fantasy. Some books I like- 1984, IT, Lord of the Rings (and the Hobbit), The Illuminatous! Trilogy, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
Philosophy- I am really into analytic philosophy, particularly members of the 'logical positivist' movement such as Rudolf Carnap and Otto Neurath. I really like philosophy of language and logic. As far as non-analytic philosophers, I like Nietzsche, Kierkegaard, Kant, and Hume.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once listened to someone playing the sitar on the most famous street in Moscow. I sat on a bench with a friend and let the music take me away. I felt like I could sit on that bench for an eternity. It was awesome.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you a thing or two about the Russian language, about logic, philosophy, and how to play the guitar (poorly). I am also learning how to rock climb, so I could try to teach you that as well :) I am a pretty good swimmer, so I could give that a try.
I would like to learn just about anything! Spanish comes to mind. Also any outdoorsy stuff. Or how to boogie.
