Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Currently looking to surf, but once settled back in NYC in the Fall, my roommate and I are excited to host couchsurfers as well!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I am currently developing a site devoted to really cheap food in NYC (old version is at www.realcheapeats.com, new version coming soon ;). My friend was hosting some couchsurfers, and they needed cheap food. I showed them the new site and asked them to test it / give feedback - not only did they find food, but they were super friendly and gave great feedback!

Music, Movies, and Books
Too many to mention here. Currently reading Moby Dick, listening to J Dilla's entire discography, and not really watching too many movies/TV shows.
Movie-wise, I really liked Peter Sellers in "Being There," most recently.
Along the lines of the whole Baltimore thing, The Wire is probably the best piece of video media I have ever seen.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
OK, this is kind of a long one.
One time, my friend and I were waiting in line for standing room at a Broadway musical. In order for standing room to open up, the show has to sell out. About 5 minutes before the show started, there was a single ticket left. Instead of giving up hope, we, and the 12 complete strangers we were in line with, pooled our money together, bought the last ticket, and gave it to the little old lady waiting in line with us.
Not that crazy, I guess, but a story about human decency in NYC that I always remember fondly.
Teach, Learn, Share
First, a pro tip: Wringing out sponges after use drastically prolongs their life.
Anyway... I've been a TA for a variety of Computer Science classes - from the introductory programming class, to a class focused on surveying theoretical cryptographic protocols. I know a fair bit about those, as well as higher-level mathematics (your standard undergraduate curriculum of algebra, analysis, topology - as well as a bit of Knot Theory). Would love to dive into some physics (especially quantum), continue studying math, and generally nerd out over this stuff.
Coffee nerd. Beer nerd. In lieu of other occupations, my knowledge about both of these beverages is growing rapidly.
I know a tiny bit about cooking... I would love to learn more and collaborate with others to make delicious food!
