I'm a very active 61 year old female who loves to travel and explore other cultures. My kids are all grown and flown, so I've got more time on my hands. I used to do a lot of volunteering with various organizations (cuddle babies in the hospital, walk dogs at the shelter, work at homeless shelters, work for Team Rubicon, a disaster relief organization, etc.) when we lived in Seattle. We've now moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for my husband's work, so I volunteer there at a refugee learning center and play a lot of pickleball. We've lived in Turkey, Senegal, Germany and now Malaysia, so are full of stories to tell. We're vaccinated, neat and quiet, but also fun (as long as we're in bed by 10pm lol). We love to explore new places and meet new people, hike, bike, walk and be sporty during the day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm Couchsurfing because I'm trying to simplify my life and be less of a consumer. I like to explore new places and meet new people, so figured this would be a good way to do it. It's so much better to have a local contact when you visit somewhere, and paying $$ for a bed for the night, drives me crazy. We love to share what we have with others, and really enjoy hosting people from other countries and showing them around our area. We also love to stay with locals ourselves when we travel, and so we like to give back to others and make their visits fun and easy.

Music, Movies, and Books

I usually forget movies after I watch them and books after I read them, but do like to do both, watch movies and read books! LOL I like country, folk, african, indy pop and most other music, but am not a huge fan of most heavy metal and some rap.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveled to over 50 countries, and lived in Turkey, Senegal, Germany, and now Malaysia, each place for 2-3 years. Hiked to Everest basecamp over 30 years ago. Just climbed Mount Kinabalu in Malaysia this past year.
