ABOUT ME

Christine:
I trained as a Veterinarian and graduated a couple of years ago so have been working towards gaining some experience (and money) before taking some time off to travel.
We are trying to get some good travel Kharma by participating in couch surfing!
I am outdoorsy and nature loving, tidy and responsible, and pretty keen for new experiences and to learn.

Jake:
Has qualifications in Adventure Tourism and Outdoor rec, as well as Industrial Abseiling. So from this you can gather his background is Outdoor rec/Tourism (guiding/tramping/outdoor sports) and at the moment he is working as an Industrial Abseiler.
He's also very keen on playing with toys such as contact balls, fire staff/poi, ordinary poi, unicycles, you get the picture. Outgoing and friendly, very open minded and loves meet knew people.

Both of us have lots of experience with this sort of thing although not on the Couch-surfing website itself, Jake is an old hand at picking up random stray backpackers and people of interest and having them come stay, and I grew up on a small farm where my family hosted WWOOFers for my whole childhood (google it if you are are unfamiliar).

We are pretty laid back and friendly. Happy to meet new and interesting people and show them around if we have time.
We hosted surfers last year whilst living in Wellington but now are transient travelling and will end up being based in the UK for a while.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As said above we are new too this website but have both participated in this kind of thing many times over the years, as hosters and surfers. I (Christine) especially grew up with WWOOFers coming to stay most months to work on our small family farm in exchange for accomodation, which I think had a big beneficial influence on me.

Interests

Outdoors - Christine through walking/tramping and having grown up on farms/worked with horses/dairy cows and on sheep farms, Jake through a love of adventure rec so Tramping, Kayaking, Sailing, Snowboarding, Kite Surfing etc.
We have a dog Nickel and love getting out and about with her in the area when possible.
Circus and performance arts - Jake contact and toss juggles, plays with fire toys and has learned tumbling and silks/trapeze acrobatics. He loves to play/talk/teach these things to anyone who is interested!

We both love literature and devour books, and also Sciency type stuff, me more in the medical direction and Jake is interested in Physics and Mathmatics and again loves to philosophise about these things with anyone who is interested!
