Über mich
CURRENT MISSION
to save the world.
ABOUT ME
I'm a pretty up-beat individual who is indecisive only because everything holds some degree of interest to me. I'm friendly, considerate, and generous and am known to spontaneously skip instead of walk. I eat everything except olives, love checking out new places, and enjoy meeting new people.
PHILOSOPHY
To use my skills and passion to push life outward to others.
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm finally in a place where I can host! Life is still (and always will be) complicated with work schedules, planning a wedding, and visiting out of state friends and family - but I'm hoping to begin paying forward the wonderful experiences that surfing has afforded me!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
It's by far the best way to travel - meet people, find the best food and things to do, learn about culture and how it is to live some place, not just travel through.
Interessen
A variety of activities typically found in nerd-dom. Music and reading, traveling and exploring, horseback riding and hiking.
Musik, Filme und Bücher
A very ecclectic variety, with the intention of seeing/reading/listening to many more. A small collection of favorites: V for Vendetta, A League of Their Own, and Secondhand Lions; The Beatles, Death Cab for Cutie, and Mumford and Sons; Ender's Game, Watership Down, and Jane Eyre.
Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
I, so far, have been lucky enough to participate in Remote Area Medical 2010 and 2011 in Wise, Virginia. I volunteered with the University of Virginia to give the under- and uninsured community of Appalachia access to free medical care. Two and a half days, 1200 patient encounters, 300 hot/sweaty/dirty volunteers, and one of the greatest things I have been a part of. It gave me the drive to pursue human medicine to continue working with undeserved communities in the United States and abroad.
A year later in PA School, I've ventured to Nicaragua for a very similar experience. It was very rewarding and insightful to spent time in a very poor part of the world that speaks another language. But I learned that human compassion and experience transcends physical boundaries, and it was wonderful.
Lehren, lernen, teilen
I've spent the last year of my life shoving medicine into my head to regurgitate it for tests. Unfortunately, this left room for little else so I feel kind of useless.
Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann
A comfortable futon, some advice on traveling, some suggestions on what to do in Boston, a nice calico cat to pet, and one grumpy orange cat to maybe avoid. A home cooked meal isn't out of the question!
