About Me

ABOUT ME

All about me? So let's start with some of the facts...

I have a master's degree in maths, a bachelor's degree in psychology and am currently enrolled in a master programme in psychology (my fields of interest right now are neuropsychology and sports), I play the guitar and sing (not too bad I hope...), I love films, flowers (I used to work as a florist), nature, dancing (hip hop and salsa for the moment but that changes), clothes, knitting, yoga and languages.

I enjoy living somewhere else, it's very different to staying just for a few days because you're not only a spectator but a partaker. So far I have lived in Austria, Germany, Australia and Ireland and spent a few months in London.

Music, Movies, and Books

A very incomplete list of some of musicians, bands and styles/genres I like in random order...
Tori Amos, John Legend, Pete Murray, Trouble Over Tokyo, Sophie Hunger, Alanis Morissette, Police, The Cranberries, David Gray, Bruce Springsteen, Sigur Ros, Damien Dempsey, Snow Patrol, Jewel, Michael Jackson, Clueso, Herbert Grönemeyer, The Killers, Tarkan, Lifehouse, U2, AC/DC, Steve Earle, Lior, Jeff Butler Trio, Led Zeppelin, Jovanotti, Eivør Pálsdóttir, Loreena McKennit, Flamenco, Irish music both traditional and the more funky-punky kind (Grada, Kila, The Pogues, Flogging Molly,...), singer-songwriters (= people who have something to say), anything with great rhythm, that makes you want to dance, a great melody, that you can't get out of your head or musicians with great talent, who surprise you and take you to unexpected places...

I love reading but I only finish half of the books I take into my hand: either I get hooked and can't put them down and finish them in two or three days or I can't be bothered at all. I've actually developed the ability to read while walking, cooking, shopping, eating and brushing my teeth, just so I don't lose a minute. Which has resulted in several Hollywood-style accidents involving lamp posts and other obstacles. Ok, I guess the skill hasn't been perfected yet...

The whole Harry Potter series, The Remains of the Day and other books by Kazuo Ishiguro, anything by Bill Bryson, Nick Hornby, Philippa Gregory, Umberto Eco, Alexander McCall Smith, Austrian crime stories, dictionaries and encyclopedias, knitting, film and music magazines, ...

As for films, I don't even know where to begin, so to make it short for now: what I normally DON'T like (but there are of course exceptions) are horror films, sci-fi, most action films (there are good ones too like the Bourne films, but I don't like dumb action just for the sake of it), anything with too much blood and guts, teenage comedies...
