Über mich
CURRENT MISSION
To experience Iceland--because when else am I going to have the chance?
ABOUT ME
I've just moved to Reykjavik and have an extra bedroom in my apartment that I'd love to see someone using. New cities are more fun with company!
Beyond the business side of life, I'm an avid reader who never seems to have read what other people have read, an avid horseback rider who can never afford to ride, and an avid movie fan who doesn't have a TV. Oh, the ironies!
PHILOSOPHY
I think if we all came to the end of our lives and could look back and say we had caused no harm or ill-feelings to anyone we met along the way, then we could be proud of our life's achievements.
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm new to CS, just getting the feel of it, but this is a great project and when I have more autonomy I'm jumping in with both feet.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I couch surfed on my aunt's farm in Ohio during a vacation once. It was an attic room decorated with fishing gear and taxodermied fish, which was at once homey and creepy.
Interessen
Books (especially old ones--I'm a medievalist by training), horses (haven't ridden an Icelandic horse yet, but you'd better bet that's on my list!), travel (having grown up with a military family, I have permanent gypsy feet and get anxious to find a new spot of the globe every two or three years).

Musik, Filme und Bücher
Paul Simon--feelin' groovy!
Dead Poets' Society--feelin' moody!
Don't get me started on books. I'll go on forever. Tolkien, Lewis, Twain, Hugo, the Brontes, Austen, Shakespeare (if he counts in "books")...
Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
I worked at a computer lab for homeless folks in Philadelphia one year and was in charge of making people leave when they'd used up their computer time. Sometimes newcomers would get very surly about being asked to leave, yet the regulars always had my back. These were the people society had thrown out, but they took care of me. That means a lot.
Lehren, lernen, teilen
I love memorizing poetry; I'm always happy to spend an afternoon with someone memorizing a poem together. I also want to learn to read a non-Western alphabet...Hebrew, Cyrillic, Korean--anything will do!
