About Me

To discover and understand our world.

I am a tea, coffee and maté drinker. I am also a beer-o-phile. I do not like sweets (and this includes chocolate under 70%)... yep, I would not have survived as a monkey in the jungle.

I can't barely pass a day without listening to music and I go see live concerts everytime I have a chance (75 shows per year on average). Yes, my life revolves around music, even though I don't play professionally (if we don't count 11 years of piano)...

I am also a runner, swimmer and cyclist.

I work in adolescent psychiatric research and at a Mood Disorders Clinic. Therfore, professionally, my main interests are mood disorders, personality disorders, drug abuse and depedency, and self-injurious behaviours.

I organised the weekly meetings in Montreal from May 2008 to May 2009.

Almost everything. Except business and cars.

Music, Movies & Books

Music: These days, I listen: Chinese Man, Fauve, Fakear, Esmerine, Goodspeed you Black Emperor, Moriarty and Nick Cave.

I listen a lot of bands from Québec since I try to promote the musical diversity and uniqueness that is being made in our francophone region of North America. I also like reggae, dub, folk and gypsy music in general. I'm really not into the top-40. To be honest, I haven't listen to the radio for the past 10 years, so I don't know what are the big hits right now...

Authors that I like: Boris Vian, Zola, Jack Kerouac, Ismael Kadaré, Mircea Eliade, Arto Paasilinna, Darina Al-Joundi, Orhan Pamuk, William S. Burroughs, Charles Perrault, Hans Christian Andersen, etc. So I really like fairy/folk-tales and I have this fascination for the Beat Generation. I also like reading contemporary novels where cities seem to play a main role.

Movies: Trainspotting, Gegen die Wand, Auf der Anderen Seite, Crossing the Bridge: the Sound of Istanbul, Blue Velvet, Inland Empire, Mulholland Drive. Yep, I am a big David Lynch and Fatih Akin fan.

I go see a lot of theatre and contemporary dance shows. Like 2-3 times a week...

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Being sleep deprived for 13 days, with only 2-3 hours of sleep per night... I will never do that again!

I tend to have strange accidents (getting hit by a horse, getting hit by a pedestrian while I was on a bicycle, being chased by a bull, etc).

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share some knowledge about drug and alcohol history.

If you are interested, I can tell some folk stories from Québec and other countries.

I can give you a crash course on mental disorders.

Countries I've Visited

Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, China, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Kosovo, Macedonia, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I've Lived In

Canada, France
