Hello, beautiful people! Friendly bi American guy here. I love meeting people from other countries and hearing about their lives. I enjoy sightseeing, LOVE trying new foods, visiting markets, and getting to know what local life is like. I'm quite introverted and not into lots of clubbing or partying, but I like to experience a little nightlife, too.

I guess something interesting about me is that I lived in S. Korea for one year, and China for 8 years (Beijing and Shanghai). I had all kinds of jobs, from editor for Time Out magazine to translator for a Chinese gaming company to private English tutor. I've also worked for Duolingo!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once had a translation task where I helped a woman who couldn't speak English share her experiences with a judge so that she could escape an abusive relationship. I don't know if that counts as "amazing," but it was rewarding to know I potentially helped her out of a dangerous situation just by being able to speak her language.

I also lived in East Asia for nearly a decade, which I guess could be pretty interesting to someone if they've never lived in East Asia lol

I love to hear about other cultures and customs, especially when it comes to holidays, food, and folklore. I also like getting to know people on a personal level and hearing about their life story and their views on the world.

I love anime, music, reading, and cooking, so let's share anime recommendations, favorite artists, reading lists, and recipes! I lived in East Asia for nearly a decade, so I'm most familiar with Chinese dishes and a few Korean ones, but I can also do some typical Midwest-American dishes.
