✨Hi everyone! I'm Peggy from Taiwan, currently working in Taipei. Every year, I love to spend time traveling to places I've never been before. Whether it's big cities or rural landscapes, I want to see everything with my own eyes. I want to discover things that aren't shown in books or travel videos, as I believe every place has a story worth knowing. This passion has awakened my traveling spirit - I enjoy meeting locals, hearing their thoughts, and learning about local food. It helps me better understand both the world and myself.

📍I'm planning a trip to North America from early May to early June, hitting up Canada, the US, and Mexico. This is actually my first time visiting North America, and I'm super excited! Most of my past travels have been in Asia, so I'm really looking forward to seeing North America firsthand and connecting with locals. I'll be traveling with my boyfriend, Jeff, who's also from Taiwan. He's currently finishing up his working holiday in Canada and will join me for the North America trip after his work ends. We're both hoping to meet some cool people on Couchsurfing!

My travel journey began in 2021 when I was an exchange student in Germany (2021-2022). During that time, I met people from many different places. Learning about different perspectives was fascinating to me, which inspired me to explore more of the world. That's when I started using CS and began my annual travel tradition.Although I registered on CS back in 2014, I only became active in 2023. I mainly use the Hangout feature to meet travelers visiting Taiwan or to connect with locals when I travel abroad. Since my apartment in Taipei doesn't have extra space, I'm not able to host.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

Although I registered on CS back in 2014, I started using it actively in 2023. What got me started was my experience as an exchange student in Germany during 2021-2022. During that time, I met people from all over the world, and through our conversations and interactions, I learned about different perspectives, cultures, and values. I found it all so fascinating and wanted to learn more, which led me to become active on CS. Since last year, I've mainly been using the hangout feature, and thanks to CS, I've made so many friends. I'm really grateful for this community!

兴趣

I'm a big nature lover! I find going to the mountains for exercise or just a walk really healing and relaxing. I also love hitting the beach, especially in the summer, to soak up the sun on the sand. Hearing the waves crash while sunbathing just makes me happy. Where I live in Taipei, it's super convenient to get to both the mountains and the beach – I can reach either within an hour on my scooter!🏖️☀️

When it comes to music, I like all sorts of genres depending on my mood and what I'm doing. I listen to EDM when I'm working out, pop music during my daily commute, and meditation music before bed. Music is like a great companion that's always there.

For movies, I'm really into documentaries. I love learning about the world through them, whether they're about people's lives, history, social issues, or nature – I'm interested in all types!

Lately, I've been reading travel books, not guidebooks about sights, but ones focusing on the experiences and insights gained during travels. I really connect with the feelings described through the writing.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Lately, one cool thing I've been doing is working part-time on weekends as a server and bartender at a vegetarian restaurant and bar. Our place is pretty awesome because we host all sorts of events. Every Wednesday night, we have a music jam session where anyone can bring their instrument and perform. People from all over the world come to play and sing – not just Taiwanese folks! I really enjoy this part-time job because I get to be part of the scene, chat with guests, and everyone has a story to tell, which I love listening to.

I'm happy to share about Taiwanese culture, values, food, and answer any questions about Taiwan. I can also share my travel experiences in Europe and Southeast Asian countries. I'm a very open minded person and willing to discuss any topics if you're interested, I'm always happy to share my thoughts. Currently, I'm interested in learning new languages, particularly Spanish. In the future, I'd love to work in other countries if I get the opportunity.

If we have kitchen access, we'd love to cook and share some Taiwanese dishes with you! We're happy to chat about anything – our lives, our travels, our values, interests, whatever comes to mind. Jeff has spent the past year on a working holiday in Canada after leaving his job in Taiwan, so he has lots of experiences and insights to share. We're also planning to bring some Taiwanese snacks, like pineapple cakes (a famous souvenir from Taiwan that we both love!), to share with our hosts.
