CURRENT MISSION

To boldly go where I have never been before! No, seriously, my work and children have kept me busy for 40 years and offered little opportunity to see the world outside of the USA. This was terribly stifling to my travel bug, now free to roam.

ABOUT ME

I dedicated most of my life so far to work and family. Mission accomplished! Now what? I am a nature lover, one woman man, have difficulty sitting still for long, and tend to be a little serious. I have been known to be a little quiet but also found that there's rarely enough time to talk to people from other countries and learn from their diverse experiences. I have a subtle sence of humor.

Dediqué la mayor parte de mi vida, hasta ahora al trabajo y mi familia. ¡Misión lograda! ¿Ahora qué? Soy un amante de naturaleza, un hombre de una sola mujer, (tengo dificultad todavía para sentarme por un tiempo largo) , y tiendo a ser un poco serio. He sido un poco reservado pero también he encontrado bastante tiempo para hablar con gente de otros países y de aprender de sus diversas experiencias. Tengo un sentido del humor sutil.

PHILOSOPHY

I Try to do things for the greater good, bringing the most benefit the largest number of people. On the other hand, I've found that some people will suck the life right out of you if you let them. I let myself get burned out trying to save coral reefs and raising three kids. You have to set limits.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I moved to Florida in 1976 to seek my fortune harvesting the riches of the sea. Almost made it. Now I am looking for that little cottage in the woods where Snow White lived with the dwarfs. I want to live there part time, walk in the woods, and cook out on the grill every night. The rest of the time I'll live by the sea, walk on the beach, fish, surf, dive, and cook out on the grill every night. Through the people I meet on Couchsurfing maybe this dream will come true too!

Me trasladé a la Florida en 1976 para buscar mi fortuna cosechando las riquezas del mar. Casi lo hice. Ahora estoy buscando esa pequeña cabaña en el bosque donde Snow White vivia con los enanos. Quiero vivir allí medio tiempo, caminar en el bosque, y cocinero afuera con la parrilla cada noche. El resto del tiempo vivire por el mar, caminare por la playa, cogere peces, surf, nadare bajo el mar, y cocinero afuera con la parrilla cada noche. Quizás de la gente me encuentro en Couchsurfing este sueño será realidad también.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have had five couchsurfers so far, including two couples. We are beginning to get the hang of this and are becoming more comfortable as hosts. So far so good. Now we have stayed with 2 hosts, one in Buenos Aires, AR and the other in Montevideo UR. Our BsAs host called a friend to give an asado, partly in our honor. I met many couchsurfers over 50 and became friends with a few of them and we exchanged favorable comments. Tenía cinco couchsurfers hasta este momento, incuyendo dos parejas. Estamos empezando aprender como eso sirve y tambien hacerse mejores anfitriones. Ahora hemos quedando con 2 anfitriones, uno en Buenos Aires, AR y el otro en Montevideo UR. Nuestro anfitrióna de BsAs llamó un amigo para dar un asado, en parte en nuestro honor. Conocí muchos couchsurfers que tienen mas de 50 anos hice amigos con algunos de ellos y intercambiamos comentarios favorables.

I like classic rock, example: "used to love her" by the Rolling Stones. Like classical music: Tchaikovski, Beethover, Greig. Like comedic movies e.g. the Cohen Brother's films (e.g. Oh Brother, where are thou?). Action/adventure is good too, like Lord of the Rings. Favorite book: Typee by Melville.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We were deep sea fishing one day working a school of small dolphin (the fish). Suddenly the dolphin started shooting out of the water toward us and in all other directions. Behind them there was a huge splash sending water spraying right, then left. As we watched, the bill and head of a 500 lb. blue marlin rose out of the water and the fish's enormous body gracefully rolled back beneath the surface.

Éramos pesca en mar profunda un día que trabajaba un grupo de pequeño delfín (el pescado). El delfín comenzó repentinamente saltar del agua hacia nosotros y en el resto de las direcciones. Detrás de ellas había un chapoteo enorme que enviaba el agua que rociaba a la derecha, entonces a la izquierda. Mientras que miramos, la espada y el cabeza de un marlin azul de 500 libras se levantaron del agua y el cuerpo enorme de los pescado rodó agraciado de vuelta debajo de la superficie
