About Me

I'm a uni student who is on a lifelong mission of challenging and bettering myself physically, mentally, and culturally. My end goal is to become a great conversationalist with few regrets in life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The main reason is because I'm not burdened with a heavy wallet- isn't that why we're all here? Jokes aside, meeting locals is the biggest reason. I love meeting new people in general, learning about their story & what walk of life they're in and their culture, and there is no better way to find the best foods & bars and explore places than through locals! So it's kind of a win/win :)

Interests

My main passion is music & music production. I've been working with the software Ableton to self-teach and produce music that I enjoy. I've a long way to go, but eventually I'll be able to take all the weird sounds and ideas in my head and translate them into something that, for better or worse, everyone can hear! Besides music I've got many other interests from psychology to astronomy to history to.. just try me! I really enjoy drinking good beers (though wine works with me too). I meditate. I'm pretty active. I run, hike, go woods backpacking, snowboard etc. I love movies about space and Game of Thrones. I'm pretty easygoing and 'go with the flow'. Overall I'd say I'm a pretty easy guy to get along with :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I love hearing new music. I spend a large amount of time wherever I go soaking in the music of the area, it's lovely. It's cliche, but I genuinely enjoy all types of music. As someone who enjoys the production side of music, I firmly believe that all genres have a lesson to teach and something good to offer. However, I have my preferences and I tend to lean towards more electronic music, specifically DnB, but also like classic rock, jazz, blues, hiphop and alt rock. Bookwise, I brought along a couple Vonnegut books and The Way of Zen by Alan Watts.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The thing I've done in life that's most amazing to me is locking in and committing to this trip. Somehow I convinced myself, with very little travel experience that spending 9 weeks solo, thousands of miles from home on a budget half to a quarter the size of every other one I've looked up of a trip a similar duration was a good idea. To offset it I need to make lots of new friends, couchsurf, and hitchhike, all of which are pretty new to me, and make for an exciting challenge. So far, it's been the greatest decision of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a lifelong student who doesn't plan to ever stop learning. I try to absorb as much knowledge from as many places as I can. I'm actually not as bad of a teacher as I thought I'd be. I've tutored several people in my university, and they genuinely had a better understanding by the end and went on to get good marks. It's a fantastic feeling, to see the 'Aha!' moment on their faces when they learn something new. Sharing.. hmm.. I'm comfortable sharing almost everything that I have, from stories to food to clothes.. not underwear though. You'll have to find your own briefs, sorry :(

What I Can Share with Hosts

Jokes, stories, a passion for silly or obscure things, stupid little factoids about various subjects (wikiholic here), an ear to talk away, a shoulder to lean or cry on, and of course, my company, which I've heard is lovely.
