ABOUT ME

I like to think that I'm an inveterate optimist with an insatiable curiosity. It keeps life interesting!

I love stories and movies, especially comedies! It's something beautiful to be able to share a laugh with someone. I'm less interested in the typical Hollywood comedy with the same old crass gags, and the same old plots. I love finding comedies that surprise you with a new way to see the world. This means that I'm usually digging around for foreign comedies. If you have any recommendations, do let me know!

I embrace the DIY philosophy. There's a definite pleasure in making some thing with your own hands. I appreciate both the final product and the process. I think that if we all try to fix something that is broken instead of throwing it away and buying again new, we'd all be a bit happier, and the earth would be a little cleaner!

PHILOSOPHY

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I love meeting people from all walks of life. I've met up for coffee a few times with couch surfers, and we've always had great fun. If you're looking to meet a local and get the good tips on where to go and what to see, gimme a shout!

Some of my favorite movies are: Le Diner de cons, The Key of Life, The Lunchbox, The Barbarian Invasions, Spirited Away, Shawhank Redemption, Talk to her, Grave of the Fireflies (definitely *not* a comedy)

canadian indie pop, black keys, red hot chili peppers, ella fitzgerald, janis joplin, patti smith, jazz-influenced bands (but not jazz bands themselves, weird distinction, I know)

I was *such* a bookworm when I was younger.... I do love sci fi, especially the short story collections. I've read a lot of fantasy as a kid, most of which blends together, but Games of Thrones definitely stands out in my memory.

I'm fairly decent at Cantonese style home cooking, but aside from "north american", I've also dabbled in indian, thai, korean, persian... Everywhere I go, I pick up new recipes. I'd love to learn some of your home cooking techniques!
