我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

A good friend of mine has met many interesting folks and generally had a great experience with couch surfing whilst on the road, so I thought I'd join to see what it's all about.

兴趣

I enjoy puns, good food and cheer, dogs. I never leave the house without a book. I lived in China for a while and have an ongoing project of improving my Chinese, but not for any practical reason. I'm interested in social justice, progressive politics, and alternatives to mass consumerism -- but at the same time I will go miles out of my way to get cheap groceries.

Movies: MAD MAX: FURY ROAD
Also: Blade Runner, Star Trek II, kung fu movies, documentaries, Ang Lee, Herzog, Cohen Brothers, cheezy 80s movies, edgy 70s Hollywood, etc. I'm kind of a movie geek, prone to watching to much Netflix

Music: trippy and/or dance-y electronica, old school rap, funk, jazz, dub, classic rock -- but also anything on vinyl!

Books: it's tough to single out favorite books, maybe because our culture privileges knowledge that comes in book form -- or maybe because I'm always reading something new instead of going back to old favorites. Lately I've enjoyed reading memoirs like "Running in the Family" by Michael Ondaatje and David Mitchell's fictionalized memoir "Black Swan Green"
