About Me

I currently teach 4th grade at a teeny elementary school in rural-ish California. My boyfriend and I live in Davis, California where he attends grad school for cognitive neuroscience. I love teaching during the year, but am grateful for the summers that give me a chance to travel, bike, and try out the things there never seem to be time for when I am working.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I heard about Couchsurfing from a friend who both hosts and surfs and just loved the experience all around. My partner and I want to travel but being a teacher and grad student doesn't leave much room in the budget for adventuring...however we don't want that to stop us from trying. Couchsurfing is a great way to connect with others who are in the same boat as me!

Interests

I love to bake and am very good at crocheting scarves and other square shaped projects. The coast is my home away from home and would go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium every day if it were in my price range and zip code. I just finished up my 4th year of teaching and am finally getting the knack of taking a break from work to read and do the things I enjoy. I coach at local gym in the afternoons and love helping other women find out how strong they really are.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love pretty much anything sci-fi: Firefly, Star Trek (Next Gen), Star Wars, Ender's Game, Orphan Black, etc. Political dramas also have a special place in my heart, particularly the West Wing. I will happily binge watch The Great British Bake Off or Friends until my eyes hurt. I am getting better about making time for reading, I like to alternate between a novel (preferably historical fiction) and a non-fiction topic of interest. I just finished a book about how the invention of cloth/clothing changed history; next up, Midnight in Chernobyl.
