About Me

I will be visiting China, most probably Gansu province, in September 2024.

我目前正准备去中国旅行. I live in downtown Montreal, I used to give french lessons to adult immigrants in Canada, now I work in the field of non-profit social housing. During summer I do fireworks, during winter I take care of my micro book-publishing house. I do bike all year round (even during the québécois winter). I like to share knowledge of my city, it's history and culture. I have three kids : two grown-up boys and a 9 year old daughter.

I have a rooted interest and involvement in issues of ecology, social justice, equality of all people, and non hierarchy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

CS is in tune with my values : sharing goods and knowledge, trying to tear loose from commercial gain and profit the most we can.

Interests

Literature, voyage, music, learning languages, biking and jogging. I am interested in almost anything except cars and the lifestyle of the rich and famous. I am currently learning Chinese (mandarin) and completing a certificate in Chinese studies at university.

Music, Movies, and Books

Too many books, too many movies ! I eat books for breakfast, lunch and diner... I read Latin-American novels, essays on politics and history, British science-fiction, Chinese literature, I am a big fan of Wes Anderson and the Coen brothers. I like all kinds of music but espacially reggae, old brittish progressive rock, latin amecican protest songs and whaterver sounds good.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Never done anything « amazing » really. Just tried to do the right thing at the right moment ! Raised three kids with their homework, vacations, viruses and bruises, their birthdays ; worked in refugee camps in Central America ; did a riverboat expedition in the Amazon rainforest ; visited East and West Africa ; acted as a Santa Claus in a shopping mall ; worked on fireworks in front of Canne's Palais des festivals, at Rio's Copacabana beach on a New Year's eve and at Shanghai Botanical Garden ; watched the stars over Kangiqsualujjuaq village on the Ungava Bay.
