About Me

Dear travellers,

At the moment, I’m in Córdoba Capital, Argentina 🇦🇷 with my family, which includes my 23-year-old son and my 25-year-old daughter-in-law.

🏡 🛋 If you’re considering staying at our house, I kindly recommend reading the section that describes our home and its location.

🇦🇷 About Me 😎

I’m Claudia from Argentina. I was born in Buenos Aires, but my career in tourism has allowed me to live in various parts of the country, including 7 years in Parque Cariló-Pinamar and 16 years in a small city called Ushuaia, in a island Tierra del Fuego, the southernmost city in Argentina and South America. Since November 2019, I’ve been living in India, though I’m currently back in my home country.

I have dedicated over 30 years to the tourism industry before retiring. My journey began in the hospitality sector and evolved through various roles, including travel agencies specializing in Argentine and Chilean Patagonia, cruise companies to Cape Horn, and Antarctic expeditions. Toward the end of my career, I specialized in accessible tourism for people with disabilities—a cause I am deeply passionate about.

During my last five years living in India, I ventured into both traditional tourism circuits and cultural tourism with indigenous communities in the Himalayan region, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir. This experience enriched my perspective on the deep connection between people, culture, and nature.

I’m a Tourism Technician by profession and have a profound love for nature. I am a simple person who adapts easily to new places and environments, and I hold great respect for different cultures and religions.

My mother tongue is Spanish, I’m fluent in English, and I have basic knowledge of French.

Living in diverse places has enriched my life and strengthened my appreciation for the natural world and human connections. I look forward to continuing to share my experiences and learning from others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

🏡🧉 I am looking for a chance to dive into different cultures and people's stories. I think Couchsurfing is a good link between any traveller and the cultural roots or identity of the place you're visiting and its people.

Any tourist can visit a certain place and miss a lot of details by not interacting with local people and their daily lives. I am not travelling just to visit museums and sightseeing. I want an opportunity to share stories, meet new people, and learn a bit more about the history and language of every country I visit.

I'm here to find authentic experiences and hopefully make lifelong friends along with them, if possible.

Music, Movies, and Books

🖥 I really like watching police movies, romantic comedies and science fiction and travel documentaries. I usually use platforms like Netflix, History Chanel, National Geographic and others

🎶 Regarding music, I don't have any particular genre of preference.

📚 I like to read science fiction books, novels and I have read a lot about different religions and spirituality.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I had the incredible experience of participating in an Antarctic expedition aboard the Plancius expedition cruise ship, where I crossed the Antarctic Circle. This journey took me to one of the most remote and pristine regions of the planet, offering breathtaking landscapes, unique wildlife encounters, and an unparalleled connection with nature. It was a profound adventure that deepened my understanding of the fragile beauty of the Antarctic environment.

I had the unique opportunity to live in Pogal Paristan, a remote village in the Indian Himalayas, where I immersed myself in the daily life of the local community. The experience was truly transformative, as I learned about their customs, traditions, and way of life, surrounded by stunning mountain landscapes. I also participated in a trekking expedition to Googli Dar, an entirely remote area that few travelers ever visit. The trek was challenging but rewarding, offering incredible views and a deep sense of connection with nature and the people of this isolated region. It was an unforgettable journey that gave me a new perspective on life in the high Himalayas.

I have had the privilege of participating in some of India’s most significant religious festivals, including the Kumbh Mela, one of the largest and most profound spiritual gatherings in the world, held on the sacred banks of the Ganges River. To fully immerse myself in the experience, I camped for a week to witness the sacred bath ceremonies of the Sadhus. Surrounded by millions of pilgrims, I had the opportunity to witness ancient rituals and practices that have been passed down through generations, offering a deep and humbling connection to India's rich spiritual heritage.
