About Me

I'm a happy person, opend minded and very easy. I just go along with anything that doesn't harm me or others. I'm always looking forward to meeting nice and interesting people! The more I know myself the more I know the rest of the world and the better I understand others. I am creative, cheerful, respectful, sincere, friendly, a bit lazy sometimes, adventurous, relaxed, introspective and observant (honestly, what an ugly word in English, it doesn't sound so creepy in Spanish! :D )

I'm studying to become a teacher and I think that's why I'm so passionate about humans and how everyhting affects us. We are so fragile! I wish I could assure a happy life surrounded of laugh and love to everyone! Even though overcoming hard times is part of happiness, I wish everyone could communicate and not feel lonely during those not so easy times.

I always wear funny socks.
I love worn-out shoes; it means we've been in a lot of adventures toghether.
I like trying new things, including new food.
I still make CDs and write letters to my friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Sharing is caring. I like to think that I can make an experience better. For example I rent my Summer house in Costa Brava (where I can also host when it is not rented, by the way :) ) and I don't do it just for the money but because I've spent so many good times there that I want more people to be able to do it.

I feel most people is more open to making connections while travelling than while at their home city (wich I find a bit sad) and CS allows us to be always in that kind of spirit.

Interests

I enjoy a lot of things and have many interests so I am never bored but mostly I like creative, expressive things such as painting, singing, playing guitar... and I'm a bit shy about it I think because it's personal for me; I do these things when I'm alone.

I LOVE music: going to concerts, playing by myself, singing, discovering new bands... I admire people who can play well an instrument; it takes time and effort! (I used to play the cello as a child and now I just try to play guitar and piano). My playlists are like my diary in form of music; so many memories that I don't need to write... I just feel through music.

I also love cinema, reading and painting. I like theater but I don't go as much as I'd like to.

I practice yoga. I love and need nature, be it the sea (where I've spent all my Summers since childhood) or just a walk in the woods next to my house.
My favourite sports are all water sports at the sea (swiming, kayaking, sailing). I've played frisbee and had more fun than expected.

Music, Movies, and Books

BOOKS
Some of the books that I remember most fondly are The metamorphoses by Ovid (Greek mythology), Demian by Herman Hesse (I'd say this is my fav book), 24h in the life of a woman by Stefan Zweig, El túnel (the tunnel) by Ernesto Sabato, The shadow of the wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón, The crucible by Arthur Miller, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley... but I've read many books and I enjoy all of them. If I don't like them I have no problem leaving them unfinished.
Sometimes read history or art books that are not novels be it for pure interest or for university reasons.
As a future teacher I also read children books and albums, it's a whole other world and it's amazing to discover it. Can't wait to share them with the kids :D

I have a Goodreads account if you're a bookworm and are curious https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/50658511-claudia-xiberta-estevan .

MOVIES
When I was little I wanted to study cinema and have a rock band (maybe I can still do it? jejeje). Some movies I really like but I'm too lazy to write the reasons why here and it's not necessary:
Wings of desire (Der Himmel auf Berlin / El cielo sobre Berlín) - Wim Wenders, Das weisse Band (La cinta Blanca) - Michael Haneke, Somewhere - Sofia Coppola, Moonrise Kingdom - Wes Anderson, Departures (Despedidas)... 20th century women, Ruby Sparks, This is England, The perfect host, Welcome to me, Frances Ha, The best offer, Life of the others, Midnight in Paris, Her, The talented Mr Ripley, Almost famous, Big Fish, Across the universe...
Some favourites since childhood and animation favs: Matilda, The sound of music, The neverending story, A goofy movie + many Disneys (but my favs are SIN DUDA The Aristocats! "Everybody wants to be a cat..."), Wall-e, Fantastic Mr Fox...
I also like the classics and the typical mainstream movies (love actually, etc.)

I don't know if you'll be able to see this but here's a (not updated) list of movies I've seen/want to see https://es.tviso.com/collection

MUSIC
I think I listen most of all to rock, indie, R&B, soul... Some of the groups I listen to the most:
Rolling Stones, Nirvana, Green Day, Oasis, Queen, Beatles, Jack Johnson, Black Eyed Peas, Elton John, Tribalistas (they only have 1 album and then they split), The Kooks, The Strokes, Phoenix, Beirut, Chet Faker, The XX, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, MGMT, Arctic Monkeys, Goran Bregovic, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Júníus Meyvant. + much more

Then there's Frank Sinatra, Nina Simone, Nat King Cole, The Supremes, & company. You know what I mean. I've been raised in a house where we listened to classical music so I also enjoy it, eventhough I may not be able to recognize all the compositions... but that's. normal, no?

I also listen to 90's (pop) music in general hahaha

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Thinking about what to write here I've realized that there are not amazing things but simply said beautiful moments that leave you breathless; those you remember even if they were quite normal. Like a night in the middle of Ibiza when you see the Milky Way, or taking a hitchhiker, spending the weekend together and boom, just like that your view on life is changed because of some conversations with a "stranger", or just enjoying a quiet moment of shared joy and understanding with someone.

Amazing things happen all the time. Maybe we can talk about that later :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I think I can offer good conversation.
I can teach you Spanish, something about education/children related... I don't know, what do you think I could share with you? Maybe I could help you with something you need at X moment.

I can "cook" you gazpacho (not so sure about paella or Spanish tortilla, sorry! But if you're reckless I can try).

Countries I’ve Visited

Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Laos, Liechtenstein, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Montenegro, Morocco, Myanmar, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, Vatican City State
