Serial expat who has had to re-settle in the USA. Even though I am no longer fortunate enough to live in Europe, I still try to visit as much as I can and see the many places I missed.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

I really like to mix up the reading list...scholarly study of biblical-era history followed by a trashy detective novel. My favorite authors of late have been Paul Theroux, Jo Nesbo, Malcolm Gladwell and Erik Larson.

Not as big a movie fan as I once was, but my all time favorite is Wings of Desire (aka Der Himmel über Berlin)...a major reason I have spent more than 10% of my life in Germany!

I have 600+ CDs (yes, I am one of the last saps still paying for music!) so it is hard to generalize. A list of favorite artists would include Todd Rundgren, Roxy Music, David Bowie, Flaming Lips, Super Furry Animals, Sparks, Zappa, Eels, Kraftwerk, Can, Iggy Pop, Radiohead, The Tubes, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Os Mutantes, Pink Floyd, The Kinks, Cheap Trick, Talking Heads, Brian Eno, Klaus Schulze, OK Go, ...but I am also getting more and more serious about jazz and reggae as well.

I've been teaching English as a second language for about 30 years. I enjoy using this as a method of expressing my philosophy of tolerance as well.
