About Me

ABOUT ME

Very open-minded and interested in many different subjects & activities. Easy-going, thoughtful, calm, clean, sometimes serious yet with an acute, quick and perhaps, peculiar sense of humor, as well. Fond of good conversation on a wide range of topics (and not just in English, in French and Spanish, too!). I am a 24-year-old Graduate student at the University of Florida, Gainesville.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is full of endless surprises and challenges which we usually have very little control over; we make the best with what we have at each moment and pray for guidance and wisdom. I could go on and on in much detail, but that would take too much space here...

Oh, and chanting Hare Krishna is sublime.

Interests

Languages, music, literature and philosophy really are great interests of mine; I love learning about different cultures and different modes of thought. I spend time by reading, a little writing/translating, pondering/meditating, riding my bike and/or skateboard, listening to and playing music with friends, nature hikes, swimming (at the beach whenever possible), sometimes going out on the town, relaxing with friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Indie/folk rock, some classic rock, reggae, some electronica(but there's so much!), classical music, Kirtan(!), some rap/hip-hop, some world music.

Books/Authors: this could go on forever... Bhagavad-Gita, Bhagavat Purana(Srimad Bhagavatam), Popol Vuh, Amelie Nothomb, Socrates, Proust, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, D.H. Lawrence, Roland Barthes, Victor Hugo, Shakespeare, Marivaux, Beaumarchais...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One moment that deeply impressed me occurred as I was arriving in France: the pilot was preparing to land at Paris, it was a late summer's early morning and just as the sun was beginning to rise I saw beneath the airplane a beautiful, pink-tinged, fog-covered landscape of gently rolling farm-land dotted here and there with elegant country houses. I thought to myself, "Wow, what a welcome; I'm finally in France!" It was my first visit to the country, indeed, my first time outside the United States.
