Enjoying the summer in Paris (at last!) and preparing for our travel on the West Coast in September!

ABOUT ME

We are two students living in Paris: Clement is a PhD student working on emotion detection in human voice and also a musician & Sarah is a medical student. We met two years ago, and we already travelled together in Berlin, in Milan, and in Benin with lot of fun!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Clement discovered CS two years ago with his flatmate (http://www.couchsurfing.org/people/paulette_ben/). They hosted about a dozen people in Paris and then went to travel in the US and Canada and were hosted by couchsurfers there! He has moved in another place now and it's way too tiny (Paris baby...) to host people, sadly...
Sarah is a newbie here, but she likes to meet new people all the time, when travelling (e.g. youth hostel), partying, roomsharing, etc. She's eager to try it!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Clement hosted a bunch of people with Ben back in 2010! Among them:
- Kate (http://www.couchsurfing.org/people/katelyndl/) and Alex (http://www.couchsurfing.org/people/williamawissing/), our first and super nice surfers!
- Glen (http://www.couchsurfing.org/people/flykangaroo/), a very interesting guy wwoofing in Portugal!
- Piotr (http://www.couchsurfing.org/people/skinripper/) and one of his friends, two crazy Polish surfers =)

Clement was hosted by:
- Marissa (http://www.couchsurfing.org/people/marysstikal/) in Boston, we almost get caught when "visiting" a pool in a hot night of august =)
- Joe (http://www.couchsurfing.org/people/joseph_marchione/), a super zen Brooklyn friend, who then visited me in Paris for one of my concerts!

Interests

Music: listening - a lot! - and discovering: we're always open to new stuff! or playing: Clement plays the piano in three different projects, and also a little bit of guitar. He used to play the violin.
Travelling everywhere and meeting people, hiking in the mountains, cooking (we love spicy food, but not only), swimming in the sea or when the weather is really hot, biking, cinema, dancing, partying, hanging out with friends, trying new cocktails, actually making new cocktails (infused rum)... but we also enjoy quiet times.

Movies: we're easy going with movies but we love particularly some directors: Takeshi Kitano, Stanley Kubrick, Fatih Akin, Akira Kurosawa, Christopher Nolan, Clint Eastwood, Martin Scorcese, Hiyao Miyasaki, Wim Wenders, Werner Herzog...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We've done some crazy things:

- skydiving;
- scary and short diving initiation with sharks in Tahiti
- played a gig at the Cannes Music Festival
- pitched a hackathon project in front of Herbie Hancock at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris
- survived taking the "taxi-brousse" in Benin, arguably more dangerous than confronting crocodiles at a safari!
- went to a Gala Dinner under the Pyramids in Egypt
- rafting and canyoning
- attended voodoo ceremonies in the middle of nowhere and doing pirogue on the Mono river between Togo and Benin
- hiking in Corsica and the french Alps (Vallée des Merveilles, where you can see marmots and chamois)

Teach, Learn, Share

Clement knows about programming and music, so he can teach you one or two things if you don't =)
and Sarah can teach you... how to cook some French crêpes! Tadaam!
