Only to have more salves. Those 15 days that I was with them, we truly became a universe/culture. We amazed each other at how dedicated and hard we worked. Day 6, I thought wow we aren’t sick as there was no electricity for food, nor running water. But I personally had never felt as good as I did then. What bothered me was they had no water. I had no idea as to why. The shamans met me the night before I were to leave and performed a ceremony and named me, “Choclito, De Gringrito.
I left there with a manta,that she made for me. It’s the best gift I’ve received second to them. As we cried in tears, I told them that they would have running water. I had no idea how I just knew I they would. Later, I found out their story, hours later. Family, that came to eat Cúy on Christmas Day, seemed to be okay with this. Little did I know that this was the only life they have ever known. Those moments are raw yet changed my path for ever. Why? I love them, dearly. It’s been three years but at 2 years they not only have running water outside, they have a concrete shower too. Abrazos con Besitos con corino , Tu Choclito.
