I was a union organizer, now I'm a writer. I grew up on Long Island, went to school in upstate NY, and now go to school in Wyoming. I like to travel (obviously)!

The short list: Movies - Big Lebowski, Kung Fu Hustle, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Music - Le Tigre, Unrest, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, ACDC. Books - Anything by James Baldwin, Russian lit (my recent self discovery), Nabokov rules, and crappy celebrity gossip mags.

I've sat on the edge of an oil rig at dawn in the Gulf of Mexico talking to a mariner about how to join a union.

The best tour of the Great Wall is a 10k hike that the Peking International Backpackers Hostel puts together. It's incredibly challenging, but so worth it!
