ABOUT ME

We've been married for three years, and have been together for a total of ten. We had lived in our home town our entire lives, and only started to travel in earnest in our Freshman year in college, when we went to Europe the first time. We've since been back to Europe, and with each trip, we get more of a desire to go farther, for longer, and to see stranger things.

So, we decided to spend a year teaching English to Elementary School children in Korea which has been a challenging and rewarding experience both at work and in our personal lives. We both really love working with kids as well as travel, and plan to keep both of those up for a while.

We're easy going people in general, don't tend to broadcast the inevitable differences we have with each other, and usually find it easy to get along with just about anyone. We would not describe ourselves as very outgoing, but can be with the right people and in the right situation. We like to have fun, talk, and have good food and drinks. We enjoy both our routines and doing new things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We're looking to surf some couches on this upcoming trip this August and September where we'll be going from Korea to Japan, China, Egypt, Greece, and Rome, with the intention of paying back our prospective hosts in the future once we get settled back in the US. As of yet, we have not participated through this site.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Our friends from neighboring cities have always known our couch has been open to them when it gets too late to make the drive back, and we've allowed a few of them to return the favor as well.

Interests

Phil: My goal is to be a fiction writer, and I'm always trying to find time to further that cause. I've become increasingly interested in Buddhism philosophy and practice and I am working to learn more about it. I also enjoy a good book, a good movie, woodworking and other such crafts, and occasionally playing guitar and singing..badly.

Meredith: I am interested in photography, I like reading and music and, of course, travel. I love working with kids, and before coming to Korea I taught literacy which got me really interested in language development.
