About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Three young Cobbers, looking to Become Responsibly Engaged in the World.
ABOUT ME
We are Leland, Laura, and Sarah. We met each other by fate (through the Concordia Choir programs) and became family. Or just really close friends. We go school in Northern Minnesota, USA and Sarah and Laura are graduating and are looking for adventure, and Leland's looking to find himself. But seriously, we all love traveling and experiencing different cultures and people. We are excited to learn and experience first hand everything Europe has to offer.
PHILOSOPHY
Laura: I believe in youth, travel, music, friendship, dreams, and love.
"Our lives are defined by opportunities, even the ones we miss." - Fitzgerald
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We'll be traveling after Sarah and I graduate. We anticipate flying into Edinburgh, Scotland on May 7, making our way through the UK to London, then going to Amsterdam. From Amsterdam, we plan on going to Hamburg, Berlin, Warsaw, Krakow, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Croatia, Milan, Rome, Cinque-Terre, Genova (or anywhere in the Alps), Zurich, Paris, and flying back to the states from Amsterdam on June 9th (roughly).
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None! But we want some :)
Interests
Laura is a Vocal Performance (Opera) major, Sarah is a Religion/Interfaith and Music major, and Leland is a Healthcare Management and History major. We all have musical backgrounds, all love history, and are interested in world religions and different faiths. We also love to read, as well as food and wine.
Music, Movies, and Books
Laura: My favorite book is John Steinbeck's "East of Eden." Favorite music is honest music - genre doesn't matter.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sarah: When we (The Concordia Choir) were in South Korea, at the end of one of the church services, the entire Korean congregation stood up and sang "How Great Thou Art" with us.
Laura: In high school, I met an Auschwitz survivor named Henry Oertelt. His story was, of course, amazing, but his life motto has stuck with me: "If you have to hate, hate hate."
