About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meet others, explore, travel. I just love going places with my kids. It's such a learning experience for all of us; we grow together and make great memories that can last us our lifetimes.

ABOUT ME

I am a single mother of 3 children, aged 13, 16, and 19. I'm a midwife, nurse, and lactation consultant. I love meeting people, learning, and laughing. We have traveled as a family in the past and are keen to do so again in the future. Meantime we'd love to meet people from all over the world, get to know more about different cultures and expand our horizons. We're mostly vegan, but we don't mind what anyone else eats.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is about learning and love, making the most of each moment, showing people you care.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We found hosting very satisfying. It's great to meet interesting and varied people. I think it is really important to expose my children to different cultures and ways of thinking and doing. It broadens our views, provides stimulation and challenge.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've enjoyed hosting very much. We've met some great people and found it stimulating to interact with people from different cultures. I think it is wonderful to be part of the global couch surfing community, and the family welcome group is the best! I had my first experience as a surfer in 2015 when I took my mum to Europe. We met the loveliest and most interesting, intelligent, and generous people. I recommend everyone to try couch surfing to experience the variety and generosity of people.

Interests

I'm a busy working mother. My spare time is spent with my family and friends. I love the outdoors, walking, camping, and hiking, going out or staying in. I enjoy reading and movies. I'm interested in health and nutrition, the mind-body connection, neuroplasticity, the microbiome and epigentics. We live on 2 1/2 acres, have a small garden and some fruit trees. At the moment we have horses in our paddock. I'm really keen to do some voluntary work in the future.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy variety in books and music. I'm usually reading something for work as well as something for pleasure, maybe a novel or something I want to learn about. I'm a romantic and one of my favourite movies is Pride and Prejudice. I also love quirky movies and quirky characters such as About a Boy and Muriel's Wedding.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing moments are those when I've felt a vibrant connection with others, or been awestruck by the beauty of nature. There's so much to see and experience where ever you are. Sometimes it's just the pleasure of a hot shower and clean sheets after a dirt cheap trip you wouldn't have missed for all the world but glad it is over, or after a long hard day at work and grumpy kids.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not sure what I can teach but I'm happy to share my home, a meal, and conversation with you.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can make my hosts a yummy vegan or vegetarian meal.
