I play traditional music. My unattainable goal is to play every Irish tune that I hear. Roz loves to cook - her goal is to make everybody happy and fat though we work out and she walks miles a day and does hard work at the farm.

ABOUT ME

About Us: Musician. Physical trainer. Cook. Milkmaid. Readers. Politically left-wing. We're Americans, living in Ireland full-time for the past five years and on-and-off for the past twenty-five years. There isn't much that we miss about the US. We don't miss the born again Christians, nor the right wing that thinks sex is sinful and abortion is a crime, nor the present Republican oil-cabal that's running the country. Let's hope that Obama is for real.

PHILOSOPHY

People are more alike than they are different. Moral value, aesthetic appreciation and sexual orientation operate on a sliding scale rather than on an on/off, good/bad, in/out basis. That said, I'd prefer not to share my home with people who support the Republican right-wing agenda and value system. But that wouldn't be the likely surfer, would it?

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Our experience so far has been great. This is an on-line community of virtual friends that comes to life. From the virtual to the real. Couch surfing works.

Interests

Music, books, food, movies, politics, health & fitness, US sports. Occasionally I'll go surf-casting for mackerel, the world's tastiest fish.

Music, Movies, and Books

I read lots of non-fiction- Robert Fisk, Noam Chomsky, Naomi Klein and the occasional novel. Roz pores over cookbooks and reads novels of every sort.
I'll find something to like in almost every movie, though in general I like smaller and Indie films better than big Hollywood mass market productions. Roz is a bit more fussy than I am in this regard and won't watch most sci-fi or something like No Country for Old Men.
I don't like pop music. I find modern pop to be grating and irritating and filled with anger. I like pure trad the best and have little taste for modern trad-fusion music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

All of our five daughters were born at home. Berkeley in the sixties was amazing too. Living in Ireland is a dream come true.

Teach, Learn, Share

I play Traditional Irish Music on the wooden flute and Anglo concertina. Most of our friends are musicians, farmers, or gym folk. In Co. Clare music is in the air.
Roz is in love with cows and the neighbor's horses and dogs. She's a part of the farming community here and a big advocate of kindness to animals.
