Get an authentic feel of how locals live. Good tips for travel in certain areas that hosts know very well. Do stuff most tourists don't do, go off the beaten path.
It's also a good way to get involved with meet ups, hang out with other travelers, and meet new friends.
Since I have hosted a lot in Bozeman, Montana traveled again after that. Now that i have a place where i can host i hope to have many folks come through.
