About Me

To make new friends around the world

I am a student at the University of Maine, but I am currently on an exchange in Utrecht, The Netherlands. I plan to see the world, and I always like trying new things. I am very easy going and social and I love music. I would also consider myself very balanced; I can have a good time with any crowd and I work just as hard as I play. I am a brother of Sigma Phi Epsilon, and I always like to positively represent my fraternity and Greek life in general when I get to visit great places. I have a twin brother who I spend most of my time with, especially when it comes to traveling. When I travel, I like to spend as little time as possible at the touristy areas and branch out to do as the locals though I will take time to visit and snap a picture in front of some of the biggest sights. Spontaneity is my favorite traveling strategy.

I am trying to get the most I can out of my life. I want to help as many people and have as much fun as possible in as many places as possible. To me, success isn't about money or prestige, but instead how happy you are with what you are doing and how happy you make the people around you. No matter how busy life is, there is always open time for a friend. I think successful people don't just let good things happen, they make good things happen. Sound mind, sound body

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It says one, but here's a few since college started:
-White water rafting on class IV rapids
-Climbed Mount Katahdin (might have been the summer before)
-Spent a week volunteering at two homeless shelters in Boston
-Had my picture on the front cover of the Boston Globe while volunteering in Boston
-Led a volunteer trip for a week at Florida Hospital for Children and Camp Boggy creek
-Visited the New England Patriots Hall of fame where I was able to see and meet some of my heroes growing up, watching Troy Brown get inducted
-Study exchange in Utrecht, The Netherlands
-Spent a week in Belgium where I was able to see Leuven, Brussels, Bruges, Antwerpt and celebrate my 21st birthday with other Americans in style.
-Had lunch in Brussels with the EU representative for Flanders, two of the EU's head research officials, and an academic diplomat for KU Leuven.
-Saw a pig heart beating on a table, being kept alive by one of two machines in the world that can do it
-Celebrated Queens day in Amsterdam
-Saw the Dutch flower parade in Harleem
-Kayaked through the canals of Utrecht
-Met and talked to the lead singer of Walk the Moon
-Met and talked to the band the Bad Rabbits
-Saw the Black Keys live
-Saw the Heavy live
-Saw Reel Big Fish live
-Spent a weekend in Prague
-Wine tasting and partying in the wine cellar of a vineyard in Moravia (Czech Republic)
-One night (accidental) cross country train trip across the Netherlands
-Spent a weekend in Paris and saw the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and visited both the Louvre and D-Orsay for free.

Teach, Learn, Share

It's tough to say what I can teach or what I want to learn, because everyone is different. What could be useful to someone could be useless to someone else.

I am a well-rounded person who knows about and is good at a variety of things, and I always like to teach. Also, once I am your friend, I am always your friend.

I love to learn new things. I'm not seeking anything in particular, but I think the random lessons one learns make them who they are.
