About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Life is about lookingat the big picture: do what you love, treasure those you love, and the rest will work itself out :)

ABOUT ME

I am an American college student, currently having the time of my life studying abroad in Madrid, Spain. I would consider myself pretty outgoing and nice, I absolutely love meeting new people. (As you can probably tell I speak/write in superlatives a lot, I guess I'm just overly enthusiastic sometimes, haha)

I am studying Biology and Spanish in university. I plan to go to medical school once I finish my undergraduate degree. Although school takes up a huge portion of my time-I attend a very academically rigorous university-I like to spend my free time just hanging out with friends, going to dinner, chatting, getting coffee etc. Being a college student has been such a great experience for me, I have learned so much! And although much of this knowledge has come in the form of academics, of course, I feel like I have actually learned more from my experiences, from relationships, from getting to know people, than I have learned from the thousands of pages I have read for my classes. I embrace change, and I have grown so much emotionally over the past two years, and especially while abroad in Madrid. And I hope to learn and grow more through CouchSurfing, of course!

PHILOSOPHY

I feel that flexibility and and open mind are key to happiness. And happiness is key to living a fulfilling and purposeful life. Live and love!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I participate in the CS project by traveling and meeting other CouchSurfers! I'm so excited to take a larger role in this project.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Although I have never actually slept on a person's couch that I'm not friends/family with, throughout high school I went to these things with my church called "rallies" which were weekend trips of youth from all over the Southwestern united states. We would just stay in churches in sleeping bags and sleep wherever, if we slept at all. Sometimes there would be old couches in some of the lounge areas of the church, and you would see people passed out there at 5 a.m. or so. But the best part of it was that it was such a bounding experience for youth. And that is what I view CouchSurfing as too: a great way to meet and connect with people.

Interests

First and foremost, I LOVE to travel. If it was more practical,I would spend years of my life traveling. I am a very active and outgoing person. As such, I love to play tennis, and go running. In terms of other interests, physiology and biology are my intellectual passion, but I love to learn about almost anything.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: My favorites consist of quite a wide array: Breakfast at Tiffany's, Matchpoint, Road to Perdition, Love Actually, Pearl Harbor, The English Patient, Schindler's list, The Hangover, Roman Holiday, It's a Wonderful Life. ( I know.... quite an assortment!) And I must admit... I do have a guilty pleasure for romantic comedies.
Music: I love ALL types, except Heavy Metal. I literally love pop, oldies, rock, techno, anything...as long as it isn't heavy metal.

Books: Ana Karenina ( probably my favorite of all time), Harry Potter series, Nicholas Sparks novels ( cheesy I know)The Poisonwood Bible, Cold Sassy Tree, The Scarlet Letter, The Catcher and the Rye.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of my most awe-inspiring experiences was standing in the middle of the Roman Forum in Rome at sunset. Seeing the brilliant sun wash over the ruins as the day ended was so powerful because you could really visualize what the Forum would have been like during ancient Roman times, with people bustling around, getting home at dusk etcetera. I love how traveling helps bring to life history, and that's definitely what this experience did for me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love studying languages, and I am so intrigued at how language has developed. I am fluent in English and nearly so in Spanish and I would love to share my knowledge of either of these languages with other surfers. Also, I am fascinated by the workings of the human body, so physiology is a huge interest of mine. I love understanding how our body works in harmony and I love talking to and teaching people about some of the oddities of how we work. :)
