Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To take advantage of some time off, to get back on the road, explore some new territory.
ABOUT ME
Whoa, all about me? I'm curious, that's why I keep going to school and traveling. I try to walk lightly on the Earth, even when I take a jet plane to get there. As I get older I feel like I need to spend more of my time giving to and would like, someday, to retire to a life of medical volunteerism. I've always respected the model of the Peace Corps. I love physical activity: gardening, hiking, bicycling, skiing, walking. I've recently moved from my home a 50 years to a new home 8000 k west. That's enough about me.
PHILOSOPHY
From Freya Stark: To awaken quite alone in a strange town is one of the pleasant sensations in the world. You are surrounded by adventure. You have no idea of what is in store for you , but you will, if you are wise and know the art of travel, let yourself go on the street of the unknown, and accept whatever comes in the spirit in which the gods may offer it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm interested in the CS project as a unique way of building relationships. I am currently a member of WarmShowers, hosting bicyclists in a way similar to CS. I hope to meet a CS host, and based on that experience open my home to surfers- as well as cyclists.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
In my twenties, I traveled Mexico, Europe and the near East, frequently sharing lodging and meals with people I met along the road. The only social media we had back then was face-to-face so sharing a couch was less predictable experience.
Interests
From above: cycling, gardening, reading, hiking, skating, seeing new places, forging new friendships, sharing cultures, learning new stuff.

Music, Movies, and Books
Living in a remote spot, not really connected. Like the quiet here, but love listening to just about any incarnation of the Blues. Reading new Canadian and American authors: Ayaan Hirshi Ali, Louise Erdrich, Des Kennedy, also some non-fiction: Descartes Bones. Love to watch movies, we try and be content streaming them on our laptop - the wi-fi here is surprisingly dependable.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Had a baby.
Teach, Learn, Share
My door would always be open in return. I love to cook - might arrive with some homemade treats or maybe would make you a meal.
