About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Met people with whom i feel good and happy

ABOUT ME

My name is Juan, 30 and counting, and I live in Bilbao (Basque Country first, Northern Spain second). I studied translation and my mather tongue is Basque, but I can (more or less) other languages. If I have the chance I will be more than pleased to talk any of them with you if it does not mean a "losing of time".
Then I studied Audiovisual Communication and and nowadays I´m (luckily) working in a regional TV as a sports journalist (broadcasting basketball games).

Besides sports, one of my biggest passions is music and live concerts; I listen to many different kinds of music, and enjoy a lot with it!! I play the drums on a band, we have recently created... we basically play covers (ramones, clash...) and do it for fun, It´s just cool, and we have played some concerts too!!

As I have lived abroad I have a lot of experience meeting new people and like many of you, I try to learn as much as I can from every of them. I'm sociable, easy going, joke-lover...well, I like having fun and making people around having fun too.

Sometimes kind of crazy (but not insane) sometimes sensitive, I think that people learn much more from bad experiences in live. If everything would be always good you would end not enjoying life itself.

If you wanna know anything else, don't hesitate to contact me!!

See ya in da pit!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, I think is a wonderful initiative. Specially atractive for people who travel a lot and for those who enjoy meeting new people (as hosters or as surfers).
A friend of mine (who is a member) talked me about it, and then I have seen how much fun he has hosting and meeting new people, so I decided to join this great proyect.

The world is very big and people very different (that's what media says, never trust them), but with this kind of proyects we help to make it smaller and get closer. You learn from this who is different more from those who are (pretty much) like you.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

me and two friends had up to 5-6 experiences in California back in 2008. We enjoyed every of them, unbeliavable moments. I have also been couchsurfing in Berlin, London, Scotland, SothAfrica... every experience has been unique and very productive!

...at home... well, I hosted people from several countries all over the world and it has been really really great, I have enjoyed with all of them and, of course, have a bunch of new friends thanks to this.

Interests

I love music (punk-rock, ska, reggae, techno, vivaldi -hehe, this one not really ;-)-... almost everything, every music has its moment) and I enjoy specially seeing live concerts. I play drums on a punk-rock band ;-)

I like sports as well, I have played basketball, and up and then I go hiking. Riding or swimming are specially welcomed in summer time.

Sightseeing new cities is also always great, and if you do it with a cool guide much better.

I also love playing board games...and if it is to get to know new people much better!! normally it's a good way to connect with people.

And parties of course!! I mean I'm not a hard drinker, but if you challenge me I'll try not to fall behind, hehe.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'll say one for any of them (there could be much more, but I'll go to the bone):

Movie: Pulp Fiction
Band: Rancid - Album: ...and out come the wolves
Book: 1984 - George Orwell

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I ate a tower of six Pizzas at a time...

...then I dislocated my Jaw.

It was the most painful night I remember, but the funniest for my friends; therefore it wasn't that bad for me. Now I laugh a lot remembering that night!

AHHHH!! I had the coolest boss in the world: MARIO BROS. hahaha (I worked for Nintendo in Germany for half a year), but actually I am not a videogames freak at all (I swear!!)

Teach, Learn, Share

Of course I can help you with my mother tongues (Basque and Spanish). Now, as I worl as a journalist, but I have also to edit many videos, I can teach you whatever you wanna now about my work.

I could also teach you to cook some typical meals from my country (Spanish omelette for example, baahh too typical, I could try something else) or give you some tips to learn how to play Jai Alai (Basque Handball)!!

Apart from that...well, some things related to Audio Visual Communnication, but there are not tooo technical... if you want to film a short movie, I could give you some tipps, but in my opinion movie makin is very personal...
