About Me

After graduating in languages from Sheffield University in 2014 I worked for a while in order to save money whilst also doing an internship with the Red Cross. Then in April 2015 I flew out to Colombia to work on a project with my friend Jenna, the project was a bilingual language programme in a small town north of bogota. For 4 months we taught English and used our weekends to travel. The project finished in August and in September we started our new adventure in Mexico. We are hoping that couchsurfing will allow us to meet some great people and see a different side to the countries that we stay in!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing to hopefully meet some lovely people and to have some different experiences. Although it's fun staying in hostels I prefer to stay with someone that knows the city or town because you usually end up having some more interesting experiences! Also I love speaking Spanish and would love the opportunity to continue practising and learning from locals.

Interests

Cooking and food in general are definitely one of my biggest interests, I'm trying to keep a food diary during my travels to remember ingredients and recipes, I even have some recipes from some couchsurfers in my book! I love to learn about new ingredients and of course try them too. Mexico has been such an amazing country to travel for its gastronomy and I will be very sad to leave it behind.
One of my other interests is yoga and I try to do my own practice as often as possible, I've been lucky enough to stay in some places with great spaces for doing yoga although any space will do really!

Music, Movies, and Books

I like most types of music! My favourite band is probably the arctic monkeys, but I listen to acoustic music, soul music, indie music and after living in Colombia for 5 months will happily listen to reggaeton and salsa too!

The great thing about travelling and long bus journeys is being able to read a lot. One of the best books I've read was Shantaram which really made me want to travel to India. I love books about colourful foreign places, but also I love to read fantasy like Lord of the rings and Game of Thrones.

What I Can Share with Hosts

One of the things that interests me most is food and cooking so I will be happy to share with hosts some of my favourite things to cook, and I hope to learn some things about local ingredients as well! We also always carry English tea around with us which we are more than happy to share!
