About Me

Share my humble experience with other people passing San Francisco. Get inspired by people and hopefully inspire people. If you want to contact me immediately, you can email, I check my email more often. I receive averagely 20 requests everyday, so I can't host all of you, my apologies in advance. I only respond to personal messages, not the same one you send to every host. If you do send me the message same as everyone, to keep my 100% response rate, I will just reply you 'out of town'. Since I am currently learning German (according to Duolingo, I am 32% fluent), I will only CONSIDER(not 100%) hosting clean, outgoing and educated German.

I was born and raised in Northeastern China. Anshan, my hometown is famous for stainless steel production and jade manufacture. I went to an agricultural university in Shenyang, 1.5h train from my hometown. I had a dream when I was 15, I wanted to go to the U.S. after college education, for a different crowd, for a different atmosphere and possibly to see a little bit of everything. And, I made it with my own effort in 2010. So here I am in the U.S. During my stressful application time, I learned to be determined, be humble and inquisitive. I hope that I can help as many people as possible within my capabilities. And I think Couchsurfing is a good way to help me achieve this.

I watched tons of American TV shows and movies, and formed my stereotypes for many things in the U.S. After living here for 5 years, I realize they are not true, well, not all of them, of course. And there are things I have no clue about. My inquisitive nature keeps me going though, and thanks to the kind people who are willing to explain things to me.

Always be nice to people, that's the way you want it, right?

I will ask myself the same question: Is it the right choice?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I knew this website from a Belgian friend, who is also my CS friend here. He introduced me to this amazing community.

Every couchsurfing experience is unique, everybody I met is great in their own ways! I am looking forward to meeting new friends and keeping in touch with them! You can check my references for my hosts or guests.

I like people watching. I like asking people where are they from, what their hometowns are famous for, what their life goals are, and I always pay attention to their facial expression. (Also, who are they wearing these days).

Looking at anything having texture and shape and color. I know some art.
Read magazines, interior design books, movies, social and dance.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I come from a decent size city in China, but nobody, even my family members believed that I could come to the U.S. for Ph.D. without financial support, but I made it with my own effort. My dad is still in shock after all these years...

Teach, Learn, Share

I will share my life stories if you are interested.
