About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Be free while I'm young. Listen to others ideas, question conventional thinking, live sustainably, do good.
ABOUT ME
10 years ago I left my home in Minnesota in a canoe, and haven't stopped traveling since. I have canoed/sailed the entire Mississippi river 4 times, squatted a cave in Granada Spain, worked as a university professor in Brazil, built community in NYC, and most recently spent the last 4 years doing rainforest conservation work in Colombia.
I mostly work as a wilderness/camping guide and love being outdoors. I am passionate about social justice campaigns, and try to get involved wherever I am living. Right now I am spending time in NYC as I try to figure out where to move next.
PHILOSOPHY
The most interesting people you will meet are a little bit crazy. Intersectional Environmental Justice, Critical Race Theory, and Queer theory are my obsessions. Kindness and generosity are what I practice.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Spent 2 months living in a cave in Granada, Spain. We were experimenting with living outside of the capitalist system, in a way that was environmentally sustainable, rejects consumerism, and centers community.
Teach, Learn, Share
TEACH
I like to cook for people. I can talk about academic theories and have great intellectual conversations around queer, feminist, and critical race theory. I also can help people practice their English.
LEARN
I love talking to people from different places because I love learning others perspectives and ideas. I have notebooks full of interesting quotes that I have heard from people I've met. I am also trying to figure out what I want to do and who I want to be when I grow up, and talking to people about their lives is the best way for me to figure that out.
SHARE
I love getting drinks and sharing ideas and stories with others more than anything.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Great conversation and a home cooked meal :)
