About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To offer a refuge for weary travelers on a budget, and a doorway to the amazing world that is Disney!

I DO NOT HAVE AVAILABILITY AT MY HOME FROM 3 FEBRUARY - 10 FEBRUARY.

ABOUT ME

Well I'm originally from New Orleans and moved here to Orlando in 2013. I joined the Marine Corps right out of high school, and was fortunate enough to stay in the country during my four years.
After the military, I spent some time following a band around the country and working odd jobs here and there to make money. After Hurrican Katrina, I worked with the LA/SPCA and also became a tour guide in the city of New Orleans. I thought being a tour guide, couch surfing would be an awesome way to show people the city. I did that pretty hardcore for a couple years without even having surfed. I met so many awesome people, and learned about so many different cultures. I had the opportunity to do some traveling myself, and ended up getting a job that took me overseas, so I kinda fell out of the loop for a while because of those opportunities. I now live in Orlando, FL and work for The Walt Disney Company, just waiting on my next big adventure.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined CS because I think it is a great idea. Hosting people from all over the world has given me an opportunity to "travel" without even leaving home. One thing about that though is that it has made my desire to travel even stronger.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've mostly hosted, but am now starting to get out and travel some...I don't always utilize the network to stay places, but when I do I try to make sure to find someone that I think I will click with, and can offer something from my culture to leave behind. I find it to be entertaining most of the time, and I have yet to have a negative experience...aside from following Phish, it has been one of the largest, ongoing, life affecting moments that I've ever had.

Interests

Man oh man, I could go on for days about my interests.

At the top of this list, I will have to put traveling. One of my dreams (and one that's nearing a reality) is to sail around the world. I don't want to do it for the circumnavigation, I want to do it to see the life out there. I've tried to stay very in tune with the world around me, and to be able to see places so untouched by man and connect with nature in that way is a very energizing thought. I've been vegetarian since 2005, which was a move prompted by my love for animals. I've raised chickens for eggs, fertilizer and companionship, created a inner city garden to produce my own food, created a rainwater catchment system and tried to live as much off the grid in a big city as I could. I'm a hippie at heart, and I just know I belong out on the water.

Okay, coming back in from the deep (LoL!), conservation is another thing that is pretty high on that list. We've only got one world, and the animals that are on it are so beautiful. Of course this includes you and me! I enjoy the efforts put in to preserve them and all of the beauty that the world has to offer.

LIVE MUSIC! This was something that helped shape me into the person that I am today. I followed Phish around the country for a couple years, and have found my way out to see them any chance that I could. Meeting people that live in that community, and the jam band culture, has shown me more about life and the way we should treat each other than I could have ever imagined.

Lastly, I enjoy cycling, running, fitness, football, anything Disney, theme parks, documentaries, long naps on the beach, nudity, friendly political dialogue, bar hopping, meeting people and the list could go on and on. :)

Music, Movies, and Books

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing that I have done was rent a car in Ireland and take a long drive through the Wicklow Mountains. It is an amazing mountain range just outside of Dublin, to the south, and is littered with little small towns and Celtic ruins dating back to the 6th Century BC. The mountains are so green and there is a little road that will lead you through just barely big enough for two cars to drive on. It was an experience that I will never forget.

Teach, Learn, Share

I absolutely love to cook, and usually do it every night. My mother raised me in the kitchen, and I used to sit in front of the tv and watch cooking shows for fun while my friends were all out running around the neighborhood. I'm always up to learn new dishes (and I have learned many from my traveling friends), and teach anyone anything about New orleans cuisine that they'd want to know.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm always up for grabbing a drink at a local pub, tavern, bar, etc., and would love to have you along, my treat. Being a storyteller, I find that nothing gets the stories going like a little bit of vodka, or whatever your choice might be. I can share with you my love for life and living it to the fullest, and hopefully inspire you to get out and do the same thing, in at least the smallest of ways. :)
