Overview
About Me
I am a child of artists who never found his footing in that world, instead moving into a world of science. Since 2010, I have lived in Boone, IA (~45miles North of Des Moines, IA) where my wife and I own a small two bedroom house that I'm slowly renovating. One of my pet projects has been designing and converting a large portion of our backyard into tallgrass prairie (even though the habitat was likely upland oak/maple woodland...).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love the idea of meeting new people when traveling. I am generally a pretty shy person when it comes to new people, so it is often difficult to follow that more idealistic aspect of my life. Couchsurfing provides me with a contrived means to get out of my comfort zone and get to know people I normally wouldn't.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: From Sparks to Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, I am a man of extremes.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once spent several days in a Mexican hospital while suffering from kidney stones. In the mornings I swear the nuns who run the place would sing "Blowin' in the Wind."
What I Can Share with Hosts
I have spent a great deal of time in Central Iowa and have a decent understanding of the local flora and fauna of the area, including some enthobotanical knowledge. I am also familiar with many of the parks nearby.
