ABOUT ME

I am an expat. I was born and raised in the Carolinas. I now live in Costa Rica as a permanent resident. I have been in Costa Rica for over a decade. I run an online travel business that designs and manages Costa Rica vacations. I am also the author of the Revolutionary Misfit blog and The Revolutionary Misfit Manifesto.

I am married to a Colombian lady. I have 4 super kids that live in the U.S. I used to be a lawyer, then a transactional advisor, now just a Costa Rica Guy. I love to write, hike, garden, surf, drink (beer, rum, wine) and create (businesses, messes, etc.).

PHILOSOPHY

Who am I, really? I could get all flowery and describe myself as an adventurous and restless spirit, or something like that. But since I believe what defines our essence, or who we really are, comes down to our basic beliefs and worldview, I guess I'll share that. I can sum it up as follows...I believe the most important thing we can do as humans is to practice impact mindfulness. I believe it to be the essence of sustainability. And after treating each other and our planet for far too long in ways that have resulted in negative impacts, it is time we tried to reverse that trend with positive ones. That is what I want to do and that is the person I would like to be.

I read incessantly (mostly non-fiction). I love to read blogs (I also am a blogger). I love movies that inspire. I listen to all music that I deem good, but especially 60's rock-n-roll (betrays my age) and Latin music of all types.

Recently I visited the Colombian Amazon. That was pretty friggin amazing. Other than that, I witnessed the birth of all 4 of my kids...even more amazing than the Amazon!
