ABOUT ME

Hi I’m Marie (from Colorado, USA), and my husband is Jorge (from Bogotá, Colombia)! He’s got his own CS profile, so here’s a bit about me!

I LOVE traveling (who doesn’t, amiright?) I began traveling at 16 years old, when I went to live in Valencia, Spain, as an exchange student (2002). In college I majored in a mixture of Spanish and business, and studied abroad again in Monterrey, Mexico, in 2006. After graduating college I worked for a couple of years until I got restless and decided to travel again. In 2011, I backpacked/couchsurfed through Mexico and Central/South America for 7 months, an amazing experience! (Not to mention I met my future husband at a Couchsurfing reunion in Colombia!) After this, I returned to the USA and worked for a couple years. Then in 2013 the itch to leave my country hit me again; off to Mexico City to live for 3 months, got my English teaching certificate, and then off to Bogota, Colombia with my husband for another 2 months. Then back to the states for a few years to work and save up for our latest trip: 2 months in the lovely Southeast Asia, which came to an end in January 2018.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

My couchsurfing experience has been AMAZING. I can't imagine a better way to travel and get to know local people, cultures and traditions.
