Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Live sustainably.
ABOUT ME
I'm in my second year of graduate school at the University of New Orleans. My projects involve prioritizing areas for conservation in Central Africa (Congo Basin). My work takes me to Cameroon and/or Gabon for about a month or so in the summer and to various US cities throughout the academic year.
Studying/working takes up most of my time, but I do manage to socialize and see music, art shows, various events, or just have friends over for beer in my courtyard .
I make a conscious effort to make my impact on the planet as small as possible. I'm not annoying about it, I just try to eat local food, cycle instead of drive, and purchase goods that were ethically and sustainably sourced.
PHILOSOPHY
Always improvise and learn from experience.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm Couchsurfing to meet new people and hopefully get the locals' view of whatever city I'm visiting. On the other hand, I hope to give visitors the insider's view of my city.
Interests
I love just about any outdoor activity: hiking/camping, cycling, running, climbing/bouldering, scuba diving (when I travel), long walks with my dogs, and going to the beach. I also enjoy other active or creative activities like yoga, urban exploring, volunteering, diy projects/arts&crafts,

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm usually into folk, post-punk, garage, indie, etc music, but I'm pretty open minded. I love the X-files and a huge range of films. I just finished reading Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami. I read a lot of sciency stuff all day and don't get to read for pleasure that much.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hiked 8 hours up Mount Cameroon and watch the clouds filter through the thick montane forest.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm a biology nerd, so I can share fun facts about random animals and the planet. I'm pretty good at identifying local flora and fauna (especially insects, amphibians, and reptiles).
I can provide yoga instruction or knitting lessons in exchange for new music, french tutoring, or bike repair tips.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm an alright cook and I'd be happy to fix a meal during my stay.
Countries I’ve Visited
