About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm a writer working on a novel in Baltimore, recently back from six months in Barcelona - here to meet new friends, and explore this country and others.

ABOUT ME

I'm from a New York City suburb originally, and was in Barcelona until this past January, finishing edits to my novel. Back in the States, I'm an adjunct professor teaching creative writing around the east coast.

Happy to meet you! I welcome any recommendations about things to do and see in your city--gems hidden or otherwise. And am happy to share anything you want about Baltimore, which I've come to love over the years!

In particular: are there any writers where you live? Great places to read or write? Great places with important literary history?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Originally joined to meet people in Barcelona, since I was new to the city. So sorry I can't host anyone; I am currently on a tiny bed in a converted living room myself! But my boyfriend and I are looking for a place in Baltimore big enough to have a couch -- so, hopefully, can pay forward hosts' goodwill soon :)

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

One Hundred Years of Solitude (Gabriel Garcia Marquez) is probably the best book ever written.

Also love: Half of a Yellow Sun and Americanah (Chimamanda Adichie), To Kill a Mockingbird (Harper Lee), The Things They Carried (Tim O'Brien), The Little Prince (Antoine de Saint-Exupery)

Currently reading: What I Talk About When I Talk About Running, Haruki Murakami; Leaving the Otacha Station, Ben Lerner.

I do occasionally do things other than read. Unabashedly love pop 100 music and show tunes, but I can also appreciate better music. ...Or I should learn to.

TV: Scrubs. Want to get into all those good Orange is the New Black, House of Cards shows and to belatedly watch The Wire and West Wing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach all about creative writing and (English and American) literature! And I sing a mean karaoke.
