Overview
About Me
I consider myself a life long learner. I had a difficult youth compared to some and a lovely one compared to some others. Overcoming my own obstacles has forced me to become more compassionate and understanding of others and has really taught me to be a better person all around. I strive to be loving, kind, and non-judgmental. I've often been told I am quick witted and self-deprecating. I'm quick to share with others and encourage other people to do the same. I'm one of those people that gets others to open up about themselves and I hold my friendships very dear. I'm finishing up an online credit and after my exam I want to go on a trip. I've been dying to travel but money/health issues kept impeding my progress, so to hell with it. I'm diving in. I'm very much a lover of arts and culture.
I'm an advocate of LGBT and equal rights, a (not extremist) feminist, and an atheist. Next year I hope to be enrolled in Toronto at either U of T or York for a year and then apply to the psychology program. I would love to be a clinical psychologist and create my own program which combines group, 1v1, art, and music therapy to help others work through their issues. I want to advocate for psychotherapy and try to get it covered by OHIP to ensure that people get the help they need before it becomes a matter of life or death.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to expand my horizons and meet new people, try new things I never have before and be receptive to new ways of thinking. I'm a poor little student and this seems like a good way to help my hosts around the house with whatever tasks they need done while also having locals to show me around and share their city with me.
I've seen more of America than I have of my own country and this seems wrong so lets change that shall we? :)
