ABOUT ME

Hello all! I'm Courtney, an adventurous 25 year old out to see the world. I just finished a 2 year teaching contract in Busan, South Korea. It was an amazing experience that allowed me to begin traveling. Now I am set for Australia for a year, starting at the end of December. But before I get there, I'm spending a month in Europe! I'll be going through Norway, Hungary, Germany, and France. I may even stop by Singapore on the way to Australia.
I'm a very open, enthusiastic person who loves getting out and exploring the environments I'm in. I hope to meet some interesting people on my travels and share neat stories and experiences with them!

PHILOSOPHY

I feel like I have numerous personal philosophies. I try to live my life as fulfilling as possible. I also try to live life in a way that doesn't cause harm to anyone. In this point in my life, I think traveling is an educational tool for me; one that has taught me a lot. To quote Mark Twain, “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.”

I've never officially couchsurfed with Courchsurfing.com, but I've slept on plenty of couches! ;)

Music:
Every genre has some music of merit and my musical taste varies with my state of being. I love movie scores, especially anything composed by Clint Mansell, Tan Dun, and Dario Marianelli. With lyrical music, I tend to sway towards acoustic sounds, with soulful voices. Musicians like ZZ Ward, Selah Sue, Amy Winehouse, and Cilvil Wars are the musicians I enjoy playing myself. I also love Bastille, Imagine Dragons, Walk Off the Earth, Birdy, and LIGHTS.

Books:
I just began Games of Thrones and have become enthralled.
Much of Stephen King's early writing (The Stand, The Dark Tower Series, Salem's Lot, etc.)

I love all genres, but foreign horror/thrillers are my favorites. I also love Tarantino and Miyazaki's collections.
Martyrs, I Saw the Devil, Old Boy, Kill Bill, Howl's Moving Castle, Inside, and Dead Snow are just a handful of movies I enjoy.

Since the directions say I must put only one, I'd have to say that going to the Robot Restaurant in Tokyo was an amazing thing I've done/seen. Absolutely bizarre!
