Overview
About Me
I'm a traveler, not a tourist. I love life and meeting new people which turn into lifelong friendships. I am a foodie and will try anything once but if it's food... probably twice. :-)
I'm a free spirit. I never needed my hand held so I do not expect anyone to have to cater to my needs during my trips.
I like having me time to soak in my surroundings but if you have some special sights or spots to share, I'll probably be down for that too.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love this concept and years ago I was a host. I think having locals show you where all the good spots are as well as avoiding the tourist traps is essential to fully experiencing an area or city.
I was also military so traveling has always been part of my adult life and a dream as a child.
Interests
I love the outdoors and enjoy backpacking, hiking, kayaking, camping, fishing, kayaking/camping trips on lazy rivers, whitewater rafting -I work as a river guide over the summers- and skydiving. There are plenty other things I enjoy doing and I'm open to everything.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love all kinds of music.. really. Local artists are always a treat for me and I love to support them as much as they love to entertain.
The books I enjoy are typically in the genres of history, military history, suspense, thrillers or motivational.
Movies are basically the same as the books.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think -and have been told too often- that I have done a lot of amazing things. The latest trip I enjoyed the most was to Slab City in southern California. It was still an amazing experience.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love educating people on my surroundings in regards to safety in the outdoors if spending time in the woods, the history of the area and things or places most don't know about when simply visiting in a tourist only capacity.
I would hope to at least get the latter in a trip if that's what I'm looking for when visiting you which would be asked about ahead of time.
Most of the time, however, I love going out on my own to discover the areas I visit. If I'm looking to hang out or would like company and you do offer that on your profile, I may ask you about it.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a Search & Rescue Technician (SARTECH II through NASAR) as well as an EMT. I am currently working towards a degree in Outdoor Leadership and enjoy taking people out to teach backcountry fundamentals to include LNT principles.
I have 3 recreation kayaks for mild river trips or floats on flat water. I can always bring a couple with me. I also own an extra backpack and a few day packs that I could bring to aid in outfitting a trip.
Countries I’ve Visited
Canada, Mexico
