Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To have enough time every day for working out, working, and socializing
ABOUT ME
What I've heard said about me: he can cook, he listens well, he's a good basketball player, he possesses breadth and depth, he appreciates the fine and the simple, he can be trusted with your wallet, he would get along well with that one friend of mine...
PHILOSOPHY
Secular humanism sprinkled with what is almost surely a misunderstanding of utilitarianism. I would be happy to be identified as a futurist.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I show up at couchsurf events to meet the interesting visitors from afar and their interesting hosts.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None, actually. I have slept on Jason Lorenzetti's couch a few times and can definitely attest to the truth of his claim that it is more comfortable as a couch.
Interests
I like reading, politics, art, cooking, sports, games of nearly all varieties, and enhancing my ability to solve problems.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like nonfiction about politics and economics, or fiction about spaceships or dragons.
Musically I can tolerate most things. Things I like: clever or poetic lyrics (The Mountain Goats), songs in minor keys (Beethoven), songs about the life as a struggle (bluegrass), songs with loud electric guitars (Iron Maiden) or sludgey riffs (Electric Wizard), and most kinds of music that have the word 'post' as the first four letters of their genre (A Silver Mt. Zion).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Those generally fall under classifications of: things I have seen, things I have heard, things I have tasted, or things that aren't appropriate to discuss on a couchsurfing profile.
Things I have seen: a vast and snowy landscape becoming visible suddenly as I rounded a blind corner, a squirrel falling from a ridiculous height onto the street less than five feet from me only to leap to its feet and run back up the tree
Things I have heard: Buffalo Springfield performing "Keep on Rockin' in the Free World" live at Bonnaroo as the crowd (including me) sang along, a death rattle
Things I have tasted: my friend Vishal's cooking
Teach, Learn, Share
I have played quite a few games in my day; be they tabletop, video, or sports. I can teach you better mechanics for basketball. I know a little about finance, the American mortgage market, and computer programming. Not enough to make you an expert, but if you have some basic questions I may be able to answer them.
