ABOUT ME
Hello there! My name is Crispin, I'm currently a student at York university, studying history and politics. When I'm not studying, I like to spend as much of my time as possible walking in the hills, reading, playing music, dancing, and sharing the company of whatever excellent people I can find.
PHILOSOPHY
I'm still not entirely sure what a personal philosophy is, but I think if I were to have one and condense it into one sentance it would be something like "have fun, and try to leave the world a better place than you found it".
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I haven't used Couchsurfer much yet, but I'd probably be happy to host travellers, and hopefully will find some far-flung adventures for myself soon enough.
My housemate has been using CS for a while now, and I've found that its pretty cool to have interesting travellers appear in your house every now and then.

Music, Movies, and Books
People who write things I like - Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Isabelle Allende, Milan Kundera, Antoine de Saint-Exupery, Terry Pratchett, Herman Hesse, Margaret Atwood
As for music, I'm mostly into folk - I love playing tunes (I play the violin and tin whistle) or singing songs with friends. Sharing music is a wonderful thing. My musical tastes will stretch to most things if you prod me out of my comfort zone - if you can broaden my horizons I would be most greatful.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Last winter I went walking out in the hills near York. I saw both the sunrise and the sunset in the hills, and inbetween found a magical frozen valley in an obscure part of the Dales, with metre-long icicles hanging down the side. It was magnificent.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can play the violin, tin-whistle and flute to varying degrees of competence. I mostly know British folk music.
I'm also incredibly enthusiastic about hills - this is perhaps less a skill I could teach than a pastime I could share, but we should go and climb a hill.
